Portal system
The portal structure allows axle loading from the operator side and unloading from both sides of the machine, ensuring a smooth axle flow. If required, configuration can be adapted to meet customer requirements.


The machine performs the following operations:
- Machining of axles with new wheels (monoblock or tyred) by turning the profile to a nominal diameter, nominal flange, and both faces, internally and externally.
- Machining of worn axles by reprofiling the wheels according to the measured wear.

The machine design meets the following requirements:
- No marks on the wheels, thanks to the absence of mechanical clamping actions on the wheels. Rotation is achieved through friction rollers. The friction roller solution is the only one that can guarantee 100% absence of clamping marks.
- No damage to the wheel profile caused by chips entering between the wheel and the friction rollers. This important goal is achieved because:
- The roller contact area is on the wheel flange.
- The tool is positioned laterally, below the upper friction rollers, rather than on top of the wheel.
- No need for additional lifting equipment, as axle loading and unloading are performed using the same rollers. This solution allows for easy chip evacuation.
- Axles are rolled directly from the rail to the lathe.
- The friction roller drive ensures high productivity, as no lathe setup is required when machining axles with different wheel diameters.
- The machine is installed inside a soundproof cabin and equipped with a fume extractor.
